Kalher: the north-east edge of Thane, and what actually holds up

One large township we have reviewed in detail, a metro line that is still under construction, and an entry price well below the main Thane corridors. This page replaces a brochure with what we could verify: distances, the metro's real status, and who Kalher suits. Updated October 2026.

What Is Being Built at Kalher

Dosti Greater Thane is the project we have reviewed end to end, including the developer's brochure and every MahaRERA number it prints. A second project, Kartik Enclave, appears in public listings; we have not reviewed it, so we list it with the details a listing shows and nothing more. Where we have not seen a document, the table says so.

The Drive

How Far Kalher Really Is

Kalher is in Bhiwandi taluka, on the road between Kasheli and Thane. These distances are by road from the Dosti Greater Thane site, from Google Maps in normal traffic, as printed in the developer's June 2026 brochure. Peak hours on the Kasheli and Kapurbawdi stretch will be slower, so drive it once at your own commute time.

Upcoming, Not Yet Running

MMRDA describes Metro Line 5 as a 24.9 km, fully elevated line from Thane through Bhiwandi to Kalyan with 15 stations, and lists Kalher as the third, after Balkum Naka and Kasheli. It links with Metro Line 4 and, in time, the proposed Line 12.

MMRDA's page, updated on 31 August 2026, lists viaduct and station structure works as completed and gives no opening date. Press reports target the first section for around December 2026, and the extension towards Kalyan for 2030 to 31. We do not quote a date to a buyer. Until the line opens, Kalher is a drive-in location.

A Kolshet to Kalher creek bridge is also reported as proposed. We have not seen an approved timeline for it.

Entry Price First, Convenience Second

Kalher suits a buyer whose first test is price. A 1 BHK from about ₹50 lakh is roughly half the entry point of the Kolshet Road projects we track, in a Dosti township with a private club nearby, and with a metro line coming. A buyer with a hard rule about commute time into central Thane, before the metro runs, will find Majiwada-Balkum or Kolshet easier to live with.

If you want a larger home or a premium address, this is not that corridor. Look at Pokhran Road or Kolshet Road instead. If you are weighing Kalher against the closer micro-markets, read Majiwada-Balkum as well.

Considering Kalher?

A founding partner reads every enquiry. We confirm which wings are open, the all-in price for your floor, the possession date and the MahaRERA number that covers your wing, before you pay a token.

Kalher, Answered Plainly

Kalher sits on the north-eastern edge of Thane, on the road towards Bhiwandi. From the Dosti Greater Thane site the developer's brochure gives about 6.6 km to Majiwada Naka, 7 km to Lake Shore Thane and 10 km, about 20 minutes in normal traffic, to Thane station. It is further out than Majiwada or Kolshet, and the drive is the honest way to judge it.

No. Kalher is the third station on Metro Line 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan), a 24.9 km fully elevated line that MMRDA lists with 15 stations. The line is under construction. Press reports target the first section for around December 2026, but MMRDA's page and the developer's brochure give no opening date, so treat the metro as upcoming and check the current status before you rely on it.

Entry pricing is lower than on the main Thane corridors. Dosti Greater Thane showed a 1 BHK starting from ₹50.4 lakh as on 23 October 2026, subject to floor, wing and offer, with maintenance and other charges extra. Ask us for the all-in price for your floor before you compare.
